Who We Are

In 1992, key community leaders on the Eastern Shore met to discuss the challenges facing its youth and the prospect of having a Boys & Girls Club in Fairhope. It became clear that there was a need for such a program, and actions were immediately taken to establish the Fairhope Boys & Girls Club.  For the first time in history, the City of Fairhope committed to funding an outside agency and it has been an integral part of the organization ever since. Ultimately, the cafeteria at the vacant Baldwin County Alternative School was secured, and the Boys & Girls Club of Fairhope opened its doors to its community’s youth.
Over the years, the organization has continued to address the challenges and issues facing today’s youth. It operates five days a week after school during the school year and all day during the summer. Children ages six through 18 participate in activities within five key areas. These key program areas are:  Education and Career Development; Character and Leadership Development; Health and Life Skills; the Arts; and Sports, Fitness and Recreation.
Several changes have taken place since 1992 - the move to a new facility on Young Street and the changing of its name to the Fairhope Rotary Boys & Girls Club.  Another significant change took place in May 2009. The Boys and Girls Club of South Alabama notified the Fairhope Rotary Boys and Girls Club that they would be closing its facility.  Due to the large need in our community for this program, the volunteers and staff of the Fairhope Rotary Boys and Girls Club decided to reorganize as the Fairhope-Point Clear Rotary Youth Programs, Inc. (“Rotary Youth Club”).  We are excited about the future potential of our club, its programs and its impact on our local youth and community.
