First Class Pre-K at Rotary Youth Club
The Rotary Youth Club is proud to offer First Class Pre-K, a prestigious program funded by one of the 122 Alabama First Class Pre-K grants awarded in Spring 2017. This $85,000 grant supports our ongoing commitment to providing high-quality education and opportunities for learners of all ages within our community.
Our First Class Pre-K program runs from 8 AM to 2:30 PM each weekday, welcoming 18 enthusiastic 4-year-olds who come prepared with backpacks, lunch totes, and eager minds. Under the guidance of experienced teachers, Lauren Wilson and Mandy Hammer, children dive into a dynamic, play-based learning environment.
This state grant requires adherence to Alabama’s nationally recognized, results-based curriculum, which emphasizes play-based learning. Through engaging activities, students develop problem-solving skills, build math and literacy foundations, and foster positive relationships—all in a fun and supportive atmosphere.
Alabama’s First Class Pre-K is renowned for its excellence, partly due to its meticulous attention to detail. Each grant-funded class benefits from dedicated monitors and coaches who assist with record-keeping, budgeting, curriculum development, and ongoing support. To qualify for the grant, our program includes a developmentally-appropriate Pre-K playground and a comprehensive range of learning tools, play materials, and educational software.
